Dean McHardy
General Manager and Stud Master
Dean and his wife Joanne moved to Tangihau Station in late 1989 when Dean was just 26 years old. Tangihau has been a changing landscape since Dean arrived. When Dean first arrived, there were up to 18 staff members but that number has dropped to around 11 mainly due to the development of extensive laneways and metal roading enabling staff to transport horses by truck or float. During Dean’s time in management Tangihau has expanded geographically, with 3 neighbouring properties having been purchased since.

INDEPENDENT STRUCTURAL SOUNDNESS INSPECTOR
In 2025, Dean was nominated by the East Coast ward of Angus New Zealand to be an independent AA inspector. He is available for AA inspections and all breeds structural soundness inspections, including cow herds. Please contact Dean directly to book an inspection.
